Nutrition for toxicosis: what will help and what will harm

About 50% of pregnant women experience toxicosis.
Toxicosis during pregnancy is a very common situation. There is even a stereotype that this is a constant companion for women in position, and nausea and vomiting are one of the first signs of pregnancy.
Most often, toxicosis passes to the second trimester and does not pose a threat to the health of the future mother and child. But in order to alleviate this condition, it is necessary to adjust your diet.

Remember that if your condition is serious and vomiting is frequent (for example, after each meal), then you need to urgently consult a doctor. And in this case, the nutritional plan should be prescribed by the attending specialist.

But today we will discuss a less severe case when a pregnant woman can cope on her own, and toxicosis simply indicates a restructuring in the body.

Nutrition for toxicosis

What can I eat with toxicosis

Vegetables, in particular broccoli, must be present in the diet – it is easily digested, has no specific taste and smell, while it contains a lot of calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, and vitamin C.
All this is essential for the health of the pregnant woman, the normal functioning of the nervous and cardiovascular systems.

Of vegetables, also prefer cucumbers and boiled potatoes. Small portions of these foods relieve nausea attacks.

Among fruits, your best friends for toxicosis are kiwi, orange, lemon, sour green apples. If you have heartburn, then it is better to be careful with them: avoid or stock up on remedies for heartburn.

Porridge will help you to get enough, but it’s better to boil them in water, do not add sugar and salt.

The meat in the pregnant diet should be lean, without streaks, boiled or stewed, soft, without spices. Periodically, it is better to replace it with eggs, soy and bean products (in small quantities).

From sweet with toxicosis, you can only hard unleavened cookies and dried fruits.
Many pregnant women note that during toxicosis, the body responds better to cool food than to warm. And it is also preferable that it be homogeneous: either all solid, or all puree, etc.

What to drink: water (plain, with lemon, with mint), chamomile broth, cranberry juice, diluted homemade compote.

What you can not eat with toxicosis

In general, the list of junk food is the same as for any person on a diet: nothing fried, fatty, spicy, smoked sweet.

In many pregnant women, dairy and sour-milk products increase toxicosis. Listen to your body, perhaps, and you better temporarily replace them with other sources of calcium and protein.

Sweet and salty snacks, carbonated drinks, food and drinks with sweeteners, fatty meat, coffee, strong tea, mushroom dishes, pickled vegetables, and pastries provoke nausea. Also, a large amount of eaten works to enhance toxicosis.

Therefore, you need to eat often, but for a little bit, all the while remaining in a slightly hungry state. Of course, you do not need to torture yourself with hunger, and it will not save you from toxicosis.
